Mox Spotlight August: Capstone Games

Summer blazes on as we head into August, and this month Mox’s spotlight shines on Capstone Games! Known for highly engaging board games for players of all ages and levels, Capstone boasts a selection of titles that is sure to include something for everyone. And for the entire month of August, you can get 10% off any Capstone Games title at your friendly local Mox Boarding House! Here’s a small selection of the titles Capstone offers:

Terra Mystica

2-5 Players | Age 12+ | 120+ mins

One of the most highly regarded strategic area control games ever made, Terra Mystica is a fully skill-based game sure to please those gamers who love rules crunchiness and considered action. Gain resources, upgrade your technology and skills, and expand the land your nation claims. With plenty of expansions to augment the already voluminous gameplay of the base set, controlling the lands of Terra Mystica is a highly replayable, rewarding experience.

Wandering Towers

2-6 Players | Ages 8+ | 30-45 min. Playtime

Taking on the role of young wizards who are late for their final exams, Wandering Towers is essentially a race to see who can get to the tower of Ravenskeep with fully restocked potions the quickest. Being wizards, the quickest way for these young scholars to travel is to simply make the towers they’re in move, and if you can capture some other wizards along the way to use them to refill those potions...even better!

Age of Innovation

1-5 Players |Ages 14+ | 120+ min. Playtime

Expanding on the gameplay of Terra Mystica, Age of Innovation is a standalone game featuring near-endless modularity, ensuring that repeating the same experience is nearly impossible. Take control of one of 12 different factions each with their own special abilities, mix that with 17 variable palace abilities and 18 innovations, as well as a terraformable landscape, and the depth of gameplay possibilities are sure to spark the interest of even the most jaded gamer you know!

Orleans

2-4 Players |Ages 12+ | 90-120 min. Playtime

Introducing the popular “bag-building” mechanic, Orleans places you into the role of a wealthy patron in the French city. Use your wealth and influence to gain followers all across society – farmers, builders, and craftsmen provide the raw materials you need to expand your empire, while merchants make you money to continue your machinations. Scholars provide innovation and science, monks and monasteries give you a hedge against fate, and knights and soldiers protect the vast web you’re constructing. There’s always more to do than time in which to do it, and no one right way to win!

Tangram City

1-5 Players |Ages 13+ | 30-45 min. Playtime

This seemingly simple tile-laying game tasks you with building the largest city, with bonus points on the line for balancing the natural and human realms. With double-sided tiles and hidden information, points are awarded at the end of each round based on who can construct the largest rectangle (an ideal shape for fortifications and harmony), with bonus points at the end for the most balanced city.

Anunnaki: Dawn of the Gods

1-4 Players |Ages 13 + | 60-120 min. Playtime

In an ancient dystopia where magic and science blend together, can you lead your House to greatness and glory, ultimately conquering the city of Atlantis? Featuring a unique actions selection system where players can choose a predetermined (but possibly inefficient) path to reap big dividends later, or choose the most expedient course for greater gains now, this immersive game has tons of depth and intricacy to unravel.

Ark Nova

1-4 Players | Ages 14+ | 90-120 min. Playtime

Who can build the best modern, scientifically sound zoo? A hand management game featuring five action cards whose effects vary depending on when and how they’re used, there are also 255 cards representing animals, enclosures, scientists, specialists, conservations projects and more that you will use to create the best zoo on the face of the planet!

The Capstone Games library has some titles that every gamer should try at least once, and Mox Boarding House’s Games Libraries give you a chance to try them out before you buy them.
