    Gauntlet Defending Champs: Team Phoenix

We’re just a few days away from The Gauntlet, our annual charity gaming tournament at Mox Bellevue. Each year, twenty teams from our local area come together to compete in a day of games and giving, and we wanted to throw a spotlight on our defending champions: Team Phoenix! While many of our Gauntlet teams hail from game studios throughout our area, we often welcome teams from our Mox community to join us in the competition. Emily and Joe Klopchic and their friends ended up playing a crucial role in The Gauntlet 2016 – when a team dropped out two days before the tournament, they assembled a team and swooped in to save the day. The team called themselves “Except All Substitutions,” and their eleventh-hour preparation paid off, earning them a fourth-place finish.  When they were

    Giving Tree 2017

It’s that time of year again at Mox Boarding House — time to set up our holiday Giving Trees and announce the beneficiaries!Mox’s Giving Tree is a tradition we started at our Ballard location in 2012. We wanted to share our desire to connect with the community, and give our customers an opportunity to join in on giving back. Each year our in-house charitable program, Mox ENGAGE, picks a local non-profit to be the beneficiary of our Giving Tree. The nonprofits fall in line with the following areas: health/mental health, education, and community-building. We often pick a program within the community that we know can use a large supply of games, as well as specific non-gaming items to create our wish list. Then we ask our patrons and employees to help fulfill the items on that wish list.In o

(Editor’s note: This article originally appeared on the Card Kingdom Blog.) Community is one of our core values here at Card Kingdom, and we believe in giving back to the communities that support us. That’s why our retail division, Mox Boarding House, includes a charitable giving branch (Mox ENGAGE) that runs yearly fundraising events in our local game stores. For the past four years, ENGAGE has rallied game companies in the greater Seattle area to support local non-profits through The Gauntlet, our annual tabletop gaming tournament, and we were planning on expanding our roster of charity events this year by creating one specifically for the Magic community. As luck may have it, esteemed Magic commentator and content producer Cedric Phillips was looking to host a Magiccharity event

Board Game Charity Event Raises $138,000

Community is at the core of our business, and in the six years since we opened shop at our original Seattle location Mox Boarding House has become a gathering place for board gamers in the Puget Sound region and beyond. We refer to it as a “campfire” around here; folks from all over coming together to share in the experience of gaming. We pride ourselves on community-building, and last weekend we once again had the chance to bring together local gaming luminaries to raise funds for a worthy cause! On Sunday, May 21, 2017, we hosted a comic-themed charity board game event called The Gauntlet: Infinity. The Gauntlet is a yearly board gaming tournament organized by ENGAGE, Mox Boarding House’s charitable giving branch, and this year twenty game companies and community organizations sent
